The Reverend Doctor Patrica M. Meadows, Pastor

The Reverend W.S. 'Zig' Volskis, Pastor Emeritus

A short biography of our pastor.....
Reverend Doctor Patricia M. Meadows was appointed to St. John's UMC in July of 2008.  Prior to coming to the Staunton District she served in the Danville District near Rocky Mount, Virginia.  She has served on several District and Conference boards and committees; and is currently serving on the Board of Discipleship, Evangelism Division and the Board of the Society for Wesleyan Studies.  Patricia is a member of the United Methodist sacramental order, The Order of Saint Luke.

Prior to quitting her job to follow her call into the ministry, Patricia worked at the Division of Motor Vehicles in Richmond, Virginia for 4 ½ years and at James Madison University in Harrisonburg for 21 years.  Her job was one of Programmer/Analyst in charge of various administrative systems, the last of which was the Payroll System.  Dr. Meadows has a Bachelor of Business from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C.  Patricia has visited England on two occasions, as well as Ireland and Wales in order to study "John Wesley and the Poor," and "Celtic and Wesleyan Spirituality."  Through the God and Country programs she has counseled boy and girl scouts on their faith journey. Patricia was raised in Shenandoah, Virginia where her parents still reside.  She has one brother who, with his wife, lives in Penn Laird, 2 nieces and 2 nephews who live in the area.

Patricia's passion is in evangelism and worship.  She feels that worship should be meaningful and vital to the Christian journey toward perfection in love and holiness of heart.  "Worship is a vital part of who we are as Christian believers and should free us to enter into worship and praise of the risen Savior.  Worship should encourage and challenge us to take our faith to the next level of commitment."  Patricia believes in welcoming all people…where they are…and offering them Christ though nurture and care, love and fellowship.
